Frequently Asked Questions
I say "Just the FAQs". It makes more sense than F-A-Q, doesn't it?
- Why do you have eight kids?
We try to let God be in charge of everything in our life and He has blessed us with 5 girls and 3 boys.
- Why do you home school?
We won't get into all that on this blog, but it still has to do with God being in charge; we believe this is what He wants us to do for the best interest of our kids. You can visit our Graham Academy Facebook page.
- What things do you make from scratch?
Here's a big list of items we make using natural ingredients:
Food
bread
ketchup
Hygene
toothpaste
deodorant
Cleaning
laundry soap
degreaser
(we will be adding to the list regularly)
Look for the recipes for these and more on the blog!
- Where do you shop?
For a family our size, this also takes more creativity, time, and money than normal. We get vitamins and supplements from natural health food stores (not Wal-Mart, CVS, or GNC). We buy a lot of bulk items (raw sugar, unbleached flour, coconut oil, butter, cereal) from Amish stores that are near us. We get meat from the local butcher, and eggs and honey from another local farmer. We get a majority of produce, juices, paper products, etc. at the big stores (Wal-Mart, Meijer). Make sure the item is "Organic" not "Natural"; there is a difference. We shop a little at Whole Foods which is a little more expensive, but it is a good place to find exactly what we need. We are looking forward to trying the new Costco that is being built. And we would like to try some farmers' markets (which other favorite bloggers recommend). We don't do all of that shopping at once, and it's a changing process to find the best products and values without going too far out of the way.
- Do you think everything is bad for you?
We still refer everything back to God. He created everything and it was good. Even back in the Garden of Eden, it was man's fault things became tainted. Well-meaning people nowadays use chemicals in the name of pest control and food production, but these things have only done the body harm over time.
- Why are you trying to evangelize the public to your way of thinking?
We have been on a long quest to find accurate information and healthy recipes and products. And we still learn stuff everyday. We just want to share that. You don't have to take our word for it, do your own research. If you want to ask any other questions, go to the contact page. We may use your question on this FAQ page in the future!
- What about the name "Yummy all-natural"?
We expanded to cleaning supplies and deodorant, etc...not so yummy. Kim's Kitchen is where everything is made.
